Overwhelmed with Black Friday Deals taking over your TV, and filling your inbox with numerous reminders to spend your hard earned cash? Want to make some savings on presents, but can’t see the wood for the trees? Well, I’ve picked some of my favourite eco-friendly, ethically conscious deals to share with you and try to make your life a little easier.
If you have a budget in mind, why not consider reducing it a little (seeing as you’ll be getting more for your money anyway) and donating the difference to someone in need. Be it a local animal rescue centre, a homeless shelter, or your favourite charity. It’s Giving Tuesday coming up next week, after all (more about that next week)!

RRP £59. With discount £35
This gorgeous layered yoga top from Asquith, with built-in bra is perfect for the yogi in your life. Or indeed for you. I have one of these and I just love it – just pop it on and go. No uncomfortable bras, or extra special sports bras to mess around with. Comfort is key in yoga and this certainly ticks all the boxes. Down to just £35 if you use code BLACK40. In fact, you can get 40% off all clothing for three days only with this code. Asquith promise never to compromise human conditions or the planet for profit, and are committed to organic production.

Was £22. Now £15.40
Now, I couldn’t write a post about gorgeous ethical gifts and not mention People Tree. Truly the gift that gives twice. People Tree empowers local communities, helps fund schools and provide clean water, and supports livelihoods for women. Almost everything has 30% off for a limited time only, and this cute little owl purse is a must for any owl lover (we all know one or two and that includes me)!

RRP £35. £28 with discount.
How about a stocking full of organic goodness from Weleda. You can get 20% off everything on their site, including the gorgeous gift selections, with code FRIDAY20. There’s something for everyone, including a stocking for the man in your life. All beautifully packed, ethical and sustainable beauty products.
It’s also a great time to remember the small businesses, and those who can’t necessarily keep up with the huge discounts some of the larger (albeit still ethical) retailers can offer. Give a little love to a great London based jewellery maker, SO YOU LONDON.

This gorgeous up-cycled necklace is hand-made and at just £12 is bound to make someone very happy on Christmas morning. There are loads of other, wonderful pieces in the So You London Etsy store.
I always like to keep in mind my three basic principles when shopping. Always make your purchases minimal, meaningful and mindful. Only buy what you need (or what the other person you are buying for will truly use and enjoy), make sure it will mean something to you and there is a reason for buying it, and be aware of the person who has made it. This can stretch from buying fair trade to buying from a local, small business.
Why not check out your local markets, if you have them, for independent sellers. If you’re in London, Greenwich Market is packed with hand-made goodies galore, and the Christmas lights are looking twinkly!
Let’s make Black Friday a Green Friday!
Have a wonderful day!
