Random Health… Quick & Healthy Breakfast Smoothie!

I’m not really a morning person. Actually, what on earth am I saying? – I’m not a morning person at all! I usually grab a banana and cereal bar as breakfast, as I don’t have time to eat before I leave for work, and it’s therefore an ‘on the go’ breakfast, or a before starting work scoff! It’s been my intention to improve this for a while, yet my only blender before, is the big, clunky jug type, which requires lugging down from the cupboard, de-canting into a suitable, leak-proof container, and then lots of cleaning! Until I discovered the personal blender! I’m a bit behind, I know, but it’s the best!


Pop your ingredients into one of the bottles, screw on the blending attachment, pop it on the base, and whizz it up (it’s super fast at blending – I was amazed). Then simply swap the base for the green lid and you’re ready to go! Even I can manage that when I’m faffing around in the morning!

So, now I’ve got no excuses, what health filled delight did I mix up this morning? Well, here it is – and it’s packed full of super-foods and vitamins!


It took me no more than a few minutes to throw the ingredients together (two bananas are included, but visible only in liquid form) and whizz it up.

Two Scoops of Higher Nature’s Energy Breakfast Shake – this is a fantastic way to get your Vitamin B and C intake for the day (including B12), as well as protein in the form of quinoa and rice, and a touch of fibre too. It’s designed to release energy slowly throughout the morning and keep you feeling full.

1/2 Teaspoon of Hybrid Herbs Astralagus – this is brand new to me, and the first time I’ve used it. Hybrid Herbs have kindly sent it to me to try out, as it’s meant to aid digestion, fight fatigue and strengthen the immune system (wonderful in the winter for fighting off colds and bugs).

I definitely felt satisfied after drinking this – most of it was gone by the time I’d finished my tube journey to work. Gone were the hunger pangs and rumbling stomach. I didn’t even want a cereal bar for a good hour or so after drinking it. I can imagine it would help weight loss too. I was rather fuzzy and tired this morning – to say the least – and something definitely perked me up, so I’ll be keen to keep this up and report back!

I’ll be using the Astralagus over a period of time, and in lots of different ways – keep your eyes peeled!
