It’s just as well I received my bottle of A’Kin Organic Rosehip Oil to try out when I did – the shelves and stores emptied out shortly after, as Kate Middleton announced it’s what kept her skin smooth and glowing during her pregnancy.
Yet thousands of women have been onto this wonder oil long before Kate discovered it. Rosehips were used by the ancient Egyptians, Mayans and Native Americans. So, what exactly makes it such a popular skin care product? It’s packed full of antioxidants, vitamins A, C and E, and essential fatty acids. It’s therefore a great moisturiser, skin tonic and is also used to fade scars and age spots.
MyPure kindly sent me a bottle to try out. I was a little hesitant at first, as I have combination skin, which can be very oily in areas. However, this oil is amazing. Just a few drops on the finger tips, massage it in and it’s gone. Light as a feather. You’d hardly know it was there, except that any tightness left after cleansing is completely gone. It’s also really calming to use on your face after a shower, as it soothes the redness away.
I’ve been using it every night after cleansing, and my skin feels so soft and refreshed in the morning. It’s as though I’ve been feeding my skin nutrients overnight. The overall oil level of my skin has evened out – and dry patches are gone. It’s so good, I decided to use it on a few dry patches around my body and on my elbows. It worked! I’ve got a few little scars from previous ingrown hairs on my legs, and it’s already starting to reduce those. Amazing. I really wasn’t expecting these results!
I’ve also heard that Rosehip Oil is a great comfort for those with rosacea or eczema. I can see how this would work, as it’s really calming and soothing, and works a treat on dry skin.
I think this little bottle will last me for ages, as a few drops is all I need each time. At £18 it’s a beauty must have for everyone. And not just the royals!
Thanks for reading! I hope you have a wonderful week!
