When it comes to the wonderful range of products offered by Fry’s, I’ve always had to sit and drool over my husband’s meals while I eat something similar from elsewhere (usually delicious too, but that doesn’t stop the drooling). I’ve heard him rave about how good the burgers are, and how fantastically creamy the mushroom pies are, but I’ve never actually been able to have a bite myself, due to my unfortunate intolerance to products containing wheat.
Then, as if by some marvellous act of mind-reading, Fry’s introduced some wonderful new products, two of which are also free from gluten (although made in a factory containing gluten ingredients)! Hoorah! I was so excited to hear that a couple of them were being sent to me to try out (thanks to Fry’s and the Vegan Lifestyle Association), I practically skipped in the door with the parcel when it arrived!
Instead of wheat protein, these lovelies are made from rice protein and chia, coated in a gluten free crumb. They are absolutely out of this world! Between the two of us, we scoffed these in moments and I’ve been craving them ever since!
Really moist, and full of flavour. A perfect texture for a nugget and super with a little BBQ sauce. Perfect for a snack while watching a film on a Friday or Saturday night. Or you could easily make a burger out of them.
Talking of burgers, the brand new Quinoa & Fresh Cilantro Falafel burgers are the best for a quick and easy meal. Simply pop ’em in the oven, then stuff into a pitta bread, bun or wrap with lots of yummy salad and sauce. A chunky and delicious blend of quinoa, chickpeas and herbs. A little twist on your usual falafel flavour. Yum! I had mine in a gluten free bun with avocado, onion and vegan mayo. Lush!
Overall, I’m totally bowled over by these new products and so pleased I can finally share in the love of Fry’s. Thanks so much for making a wheat free range – you’ve made my year!
They’re currently available online, with sites such as Goodness Direct, however I hear they’ll be making an appearance on Ocado in the New Year!
And, as as extra special surprise for you lovely readers, I have 3 of Fry’s mini recipe books to give away! Please comment below with your favourite food (or the one you’d most like to try) from the Fry’s range. I’ll pick the winners on January 15th!
Good Luck and Merry Christmas!
Polite note: This review has been organised by the VEGAN Lifestyle ASSOCIATION. It has not been paid for and the products were sent free of charge. This is my genuine and unbiased review of the product.
