As you may be aware if you’re familiar with some of my earlier posts, I’m a huge fan of mineral make-up. I like to use natural products, which are free from synthetic chemicals and fragrances.
Lavera have been making natural skincare and cosmetic products for over 25 years. They are one of the most established brands and one I feel I can rely on for high quality, effective and gentle results.
I usually choose a loose mineral foundation, as I find that it gives me a deeper, longer lasting coverage. However, I thought I’d give a compact a go, and MyPure kindly sent me the above compact powder from Lavera, in a lovely ivory tone. They have three shades, but this is the best choice for my super pale – reflect the sun – skin!
I found this powder really easy to apply with a small powder sponge. It doesn’t come with a sponge, so it’s a good idea to get one if you don’t already have one in your make-up bag. I’m sure it will also go on nicely using a brush, but the sponge gives a more even finish.
It has a really smooth texture and I found that it glides on to my skin really well. It wasn’t really dry like some powders, and it therefore didn’t clump. I found it just moist enough to provide an even finish, without making my skin greasy. It also gave a really good coverage – I do use a little concealer underneath too – and a natural look.
The ivory is really light, so it was perfect for me, but if you have more than ghostly pale skin (the type with freckles and tendency to sunburn), you’ll probably find the almond or honey tones more suitable.
I found it passed the test of lasting all day too. It didn’t slide off my face, or leave clumps in patches. It would need topping up if I was going out in the evening, but I find that with most make-up anyway.
I’ve been using this for a few weeks now, and there’s still plenty left, so at £15.50 for a 7g compact, I think it’s really good value for such a high quality, natural cosmetic.
My new favourite foundation!
I was sent this product free of charge from MyPure for review purposes. All opinions are my own.
