Start A Revolution with your Teeth

Welcome 2020! The year of the environmental revolution.. well, maybe! At least it could be the year you commit to making change. Nothing drastic, nothing huge. I’m not asking you to quit all of your plastic use overnight – we don’t live in a perfect world after all, and we need legislation and big brands to make that truly possible for many of us. But, we can all take small steps to make the world a better place. To ensure a future for a planet and for future generations.

So, if one of your New Year’s Resolutions is to use less plastic, then I always suggest to people that they pick one area at a time to start with – that way it seems more manageable, less overwhelming, and suddenly you’ve got hooked on those positive changes and you’re ready for more.

With the help of ethical oral care brand Brushd, I’ve eliminated plastic from my dental hygiene regime – and it feels so good. The majority of toothbrushes are made from plastic, and dental floss is usually coated in plastic. Most toothpastes are in plastic tubes, and mouthwashes are usually in plastic bottles. Wow! What a plastic hurdle to jump!

But Brushd have made it easy, with their fresh and fantastic range of toothpaste and mouthwash tablets, planet friendly toothbrushes, bamboo interdental brushes and natural dental floss. They even have dental supplements to keep those gnashers healthy! And doesn’t it just look so much cuter and fun than all that plastic packaging?

I absolutely love the toothpaste tablets – they’re so fresh and zingy and they don’t dry out your mouth like some brands I’ve tried. Packaged in glass instead of plastic, and you can buy a refill pack made entirely from plants, so there’s no waste whatsoever. The mouthwash tablets come in the same packaging options and these are simply popped into a small glass/cup of water – what could be easier? If you’re travelling to a festival which doesn’t allow glass (which we often do), simply decant your tablets into a small, reusable container and off they go on their travels with you. Easy peasy.

The natural corn dental floss, is completely biodegradable and can be disposed of in your food waste bin or compost heap. And coming in a cute little glass jar – what a game changer. The bamboo toothbrush can also go in your home compost too – simply cut off the bristles first.

I’m amazed by this wonderful range of products offered by Brushd – so effective, with such lovely packaging that looks great on the bathroom shelf. I’m a complete convert and it’s made it so easy to hugely reduce the plastic in my dental care routine.
