Papery Goodness… Sustainably

Do you love stationary? Are you a self confessed notebook hoarder? Yes, me too! But I’m also always trying to be a conscious consumer by keeping my environmental impact low. So it’s frustrating when you find all of those beautiful cards and stunning papers wrapped in plastic, or made from non-sustainable materials. Introducing you to Papergang – Ohh Deer’s way of expressing a deep rooted obsession with papery goodness, whilst keeping an eye on the sustainable prize.

As a subscriber, you’ll receive a themed box through your letterbox each month, filled with stationery, including greeting cards, notebooks, desk accessories and art prints. I was lucky enough to receive this month’s, Halloween inspired, ‘Boho Witch’ themed box, designed by Ohh Deer’s junior designer, Jess.

I was most excited by the wooden stamps, which probably stems from my childhood obsession of stickering and stamping everything in sight! As you can see, besides the ink pad container, everything is plastic free, including the delivery box and outer packaging. Plus, the beautiful envelopes, cards and notepad are made from FSC approved materials, and printed using vegetable based inks. Last year, Ohh Deer actually removed plastic from their entire greeting card range, and hopefully others will soon follow in their footsteps. Papergang ensure that the majority of their products are manufactured in the UK, in order to reduce their carbon footprint even further.

For every 4 boxes sold, Papergang plant one tree via Tree Aid. In the last year alone that’s over 10,000 trees!  Tree Aid works with communities in the drylands of Africa to protect the environment, and helping villagers grow nutritious food all year round. These trees help provide food and income, supporting people in need to afford education and healthcare. So far, Tree Aid have planted more than 16 million trees and improved the lives of over 1.2 million people.

A Papergang subscription costs £14 per month, and contents are worth £20-£40 each month. This is one of the things that makes it so appealing – you’re getting more than your money’s worth every single month. They also make fantastic gifts.

I absolutely love the illustration and artwork style Jess has created for this box. The stamps and washi tape have already been put to use in my creative journal – alongside my latest leaf art obsession. My leaves are collected from the local area, preserved, and then painted on with acrylic paint pens. I think these fit perfectly with the botanical, autumnal, ethereal feel of October’s box. I’d highly recommend signing yourself up – you can cancel anytime, so no need to worry if you end up with too much stationary!! As if!!

Thanks so much for reading.

Success! You're on the list.
