Black Friday is not my favourite time of the year. To me, it signifies everything that conscious, ethical consumerism is against. Mindless greed in the pursuit of money from corporations and retailers, often selling cheaply made, sweatshop produced goods, to consumers who don’t really need many of the goods on offer, but are convinced by this consumer society that they really need it. The results are crowds of fighting people, all looking for a cut-price TV – when they already have a perfectly good TV at home.
Fortunately, some ethical retailers have taken on the Black Friday theme in an attempt to at least make ethical products more available and visible, and give those of us who wish to make a difference a chance to contribute.
This ‘Black Friday’ Ethical Superstore will be doing something rather special. They will be giving you 20% off PLUS donating much-needed grocery items to the Newcastle West End Foodbank with every single order over £30.
I love Ethical Superstore and they have a really wonderful range of gorgeous, ethical items perfect for gifts this Christmas. Why not do your Christmas shopping during the offer period.
Not only will you be contributing to ethical sourcing my purchasing your choice of conscious gift, you will be giving an extra gift to someone who is really in need this Christmas.
Please note that some items are excluded from this offer and full terms can be viewed on the Ethical Superstore website.
So remember, make your purchase count this Black Friday and shop ethical instead.
